Inside the Workshop: How an Automotive Key Is Transformed by Hand

An automotive key requires more than a simple exterior modification to become a finished metal-crafted piece.

ORIGINMARK has recently released a series of workshop images showing selected stages of its automotive key production process, from metal preparation and engraving to surface finishing.

Each project begins with the structure of the original vehicle key.

Dimensions, button placement, edges, contours, and overall proportions are considered before the external design is developed.

For engraved pieces, surface treatment becomes an especially important stage.

Patterns must follow the contours of the key while maintaining clear access to the original buttons and functional areas.

The workshop images reveal a range of hand tools used throughout the process, including engraving tools, polishing equipment, and precision finishing instruments.

After the initial metalwork, surfaces may undergo additional refinement, polishing, aging, or other finishing processes depending on the intended appearance.

Because each piece involves manual finishing, subtle differences in texture, depth, reflection, and surface character may occur from one piece to another.

For ORIGINMARK, these variations are part of the character of handcrafted production.

The newly released workshop images offer a closer look at the making process behind the brand’s automotive key collection.

More vehicle-specific designs, materials, and craftsmanship stories will be introduced through future ORIGINMARK releases.
